Het was een heel mooi avontuur met veel te doen, leuke gidsen en een super mooie omgeving. De vroege vis-vogel-kijk vaartocht tijdens de zonsopgang en de nacht vaartocht met sterren en kaaimannen waren extra speciaal.

We had a fantastic time at the Brownsberg. It was very special to be there with two talented an very enthusiastic guides: Dick and Danny. They told us everything about wildlife and Suriname.
They also are very flexible and listened well to our wishes and capabilitys. It was very nice to be with the four of us at the Brownsberg.

We went hiking with Dwight. It was so much fun! We saw so many different animals, and Dwight even shared some fun and interesting facts but also a lot of history. Definitely worth doing!

It was a great adventure to make a trip to Peperpot. The enthousiasm, information and attention for me and my son and the love for the nature was a beautifull experience. We spotted al lot of animals. We also went to Seliba and the tour was also a big succes. The luxe in the wilderness and relaxing with nice people. We had a great time!

Amazing Amazon Adventure

An amazing trip — a remote jungle experience and weeks of peace on the rivers of the Amazon. Every day brought about two major animal sightings, plus countless birds and smaller creatures along the way.

The landscapes were breathtaking, the atmosphere serene, and the pace deeply relaxing.

The tent/hammock setup was comfortable. I slept well most every night.

The mornings are by far the best part. You wake early, surrounded by stillness, with hours of peace as the jungle slowly comes to life — birds calling, mist rising, and the sun lighting the river. It’s pure magic.

Matt and Marcos were exceptional guides — among the best I’ve had in dozens of trips. Their skill, passion, communication, and balance of safety and flexibility made the experience unforgettable.

The logistics were smooth from start to finish, including transportation and setup. The return to Sutopia Resort in Paramaribo was warm and welcoming, and the final dinner there was a wonderful way to close an incredible journey.

Given the long 14-day duration, it may not be for everyone. There is so much time to reflect — to meditate on the meaning of life and the beauty of nature. Each day includes about two hours of free time at lunch and one hour before sleep, with the rest filled with kayaking, jungle walks, fishing, and other immersive activities.

Tips for Guests

-- Bring everything on the provided packing list — you’ll need it all.

-- Bring an extra daily snack for yourself. I brought a book and read 30 mins a day.

-- Watch your energy — if you’ve had a long day, go to bed early to enjoy the next morning fully.

-- Keep your gear dry and organized — waterproof bags make a big difference.

-- Take time to unplug — with no internet or distractions, it’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature.

Het was een bijzonder leuke ervaring! Veel gezien onderweg en tijdens de uitjes. indrukwekkende zonsop- en ondergang. "S-morgens gewekt door het gebrul van de brulapen, heerlijk gebadderd in de rivier, en een fantastische kok Mbatta die alles wel heel Lekker maakt.  en 2 geweldige gidsen voor onderweg! Kortom echt de moeite waard.

We had an amazing hiking tour. We went with Stefan and Dick. They are both so passionate about nature and animals. We learned a lot and enjoyed the hike. Big thanks to both for the amazing experience. We wouldn’t want to miss it on our vacation in Suriname!

Maratakka (optional with Bigi Pan)

Tijdens onze recente jungle tour hebben we een onvergetelijke ervaring opgedaan. De gids was fantastisch; zijn kennis over de dieren was indrukwekkend en hij vertelde met veel enthousiasme over. Bovendien was zijn geduld opmerkelijk, Het was een geweldige gelegenheid om meer te leren over de biodiversiteit van de jungle, en zijn passie voor de natuur maakte de tour nog specialer. Een absolute aanrader voor natuurliefhebbers!

Wat een geweldige belevenis met gids Ro. Babyschildpadjes gezien, sporen van de leather back en het hoogtepunt het zien van het eieren leggen. Wat een prachtig avontuur. Top geregeld allemaal.

It was beautiful staying on the water (BigiPan) and in the jungle (Maratakka). Saw a lot of animals and the guides took his care of us. It was a really special experience, that I would not have wanted to miss.

The trip to table mountain, was not just a trip but a journey through the heart of Suriname and a journey for the mind, body and soul. Our trip to Maratakka was fantastic! Everything was excellently organized, and our guide, Mike, played a major role in the trip's success. He went above and beyond to accommodate everyone's wishes.

We had the unique opportunity to see amazing animals in their natural habitat, including anacondas, river otters, manatees, toucans, sloths, and many more.

Sleeping in nature was an incredible experience. The camp is simple but provides everything you need. A must-do for nature lovers and adventurers!

We absolutely loved this night tour of the park.  We saw sloths, monkeys, huge porcupines, owls, tarantulas, snakes, birds etc.  The guide was excellent.  We'd highly recommend doing this during your stay.  even better if you stay at Boutique Hotel Peperpot as it's right next to the park entrance.

After our initial meeting over New Year’s, where Dick shared details about the expedition, we continued to provide trip information through brochures and our group chat to keep everyone informed. We also offered the option to cancel at any point if the arrangements did not meet your expectations.

Our interview process is mainly for guests we haven’t met before, to ensure they’re a good fit for the group and have the right expectations, especially when signing up online. We make sure that everyone receives all essential information in advance and is welcome to reach out to us at any time. Since we had already spoken with you personally before your booking, an additional interview wasn’t required.

Bad organization, good trip - saved by the 2 amazing guides Ash and Marcos (they are the 2 ⭐ of the expedition)
  
The lack of communication before the trip is alarming. The description says that an interview is included to discuss about the details of the trip, but half of the group had none, including myself. 

Travelling as a lone not-native English speaker woman, I had many questions regarding the organization : physical intensity of the trip, precision about the gear needed (translations I found were inadequate and I was missing crucial items due to that), and also the identity of the guides / their experience on the field. 

I was the very first to book the trip after having a short chat with the manager/owner Diederik (aka Dick) Lock the 29th January of 2024. As I just said, I had no news since then from neither him, his associate Lieke or anyone else of the crew. I was said that a whatsapp groupchat would be created and when I asked to Mr. Lock when it was going to be set up, he was only saying that there was no rush at that time. So, I was patiently expecting for the interview and the creation of the groupchat to have more news. 

All the other travelers and I thought he was going to be part of the trip. I randomly learnt it was not going to be the case scrolling instagram at the end of July (what a way to find out an important information of a 4000€ remote expedition....). 
When I asked for precisions to Mr. Lock, he did offer no apologies for the lack of communicaton and only offered the option to cancel the whole trip. 

What a customer service I had, after payig that amount of money... 

Fortunately, with that amount of informations missing (including on the guides side that learned some info, for instance that total load was limited), the mission has been a good time thanks and only thanks to the 2 amazing guides that are Ash and Marcos.

The Unlock crew even forget to book the taxi for me to leave Sutopia at the end of the trip. I stayed 1 extra night and they had the memory of me at 22pm the day before I was leaving.

Unfortunately they are the only company to offer this type of discovery of Surinam wonderful nature, so it does not let much of a choice. So if you're into going hazardly through remote/no contact nature, I can only advise you to ask for Ash and/or Marcos (the best would be them together as they are a super teeam).




Such an amazing trip! So many cool sights and up close experiences with amazing wildlife. 

This tour was amazing! We got to see a green turtle laying eggs on the beach and even a dolphin on the boat trip back. Sandro was an excellent guide who shared knowledge not only about the turtles and local wildlife but the surrounding area and Surniame in general as well. Highly recommend! 

We had such a wonderful time on this tour. Unlock Nature was very communicative and our guide, Marco, did a fantastic job telling us about the flora and fauna we saw. Highly recommend! 

It was wonderful to paddle through the narrow creek while the sun set. In the middle of the park we made a walk in the dark and spotted several snakes and nocturnal animals. Paddling back in the dark was magical. We highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful surroundings, no other tourists, we’ve seen lots of wildlife. Loved the  earlymorning boattrip and especially the afternoon/evening hike. 
Accomodation (if you choose bed instead of hammock)was in big house. Rooms need  refurbishment, but it was nice to have the entire house for our group.  Guide Dick was great, very enthousiatic wildlife spotter. And a local lady provided us with excellent meals.

It was good. We saw lots of wildlife such as snakes, sloths, porcupines, frogs. The animals were cool and the guide was cool but the food was just chips and the flashlights died quickly.

Table Mountain is a Tepui mountain with a large sandstone plateau that mainly occur in the Guiana shield, Northern South-America. Many Tepuis exist in this area, of which most can be found in South-eastern Venezuela. Suriname only has a single Tepui mountain, the Tafelberg, located in the very heart of Suriname and is also part of the Central Suriname Nature Reserve (CSNR). This area with pristine jungle is a home to many animals and some of them are only found here! &nbsp;

During this expedition we drive to Atjoni where we go by helicopter to the Tafelberg. We land near the basecamp where we start the trip. There are multiple areas on the Tafelberg to explore. In consultation with the guide up front we can decide what to do and where to go.&nbsp;
