Near Paramaribo, two rivers come together: the Commewijne River and the Suriname River. These rivers flow into the Atlantic Ocean. By boat, we sail across the river where there is a great chance of spotting dolphins in their natural habitat. Along the riverbanks you will also see mangroves and a variety of birds, such as the scarlet ibis. During this tour, we visit two historic plantations along the Commewijne River: Plantage Rust en Werk and Plantage Frederiksdorp. We also make a stop at Fort Nieuw Amsterdam, where you can learn more about Suriname’s colonial history.

This tour is a more extensive version of the dolphin tour, combining nature, history and culture in one experience. A local lunch is included in the tour. The tour is guided by a local boat captain and experienced guide.

You can choose to get on the boat at pier Leonsberg, Paramaribo (at 8:30) or pier Nieuw Amsterdam, Commewijne (at 8:45).

The trip will take around 6 - 6,5 hours.
